Last reminder ECMC2008

The ECMC2008 is nearly on. If you haven't paid the fee consider doing so now: until 15 th July its EUR 60 for racers, EUR 40 for guests. Payment & registration on location is all possible but will be slightly more.

We rather you spend that cash on beer instead.

If you know of people who are coming - but did not register yet - please ask them to do so these coming days. For us organizers it's a good thing to know how many extra registration packs & breakfasts we have to take care of.

Yes, a post-event candidate has come forward!

Millportpoloco IV: a weekend of courier mayhem brought to you by westcoast messengers glasgow .

Millportpoloco IV is going to be held the weekend after the ecmc: 1-3 August 2008.

Its put on by the glasgow messengers (west coast mess) and has become an annual event. They hold it over a weekend, with some events in glasgow and the main events taking place on an island a bit outta the city. being in scotland, and a messenger event, things normally get totally out of hand and very messy, but loads of fun

 For the last 13 years I have been to a shitload of messenger events.

Things I remember the most – and cherish in my thoughts forever – are those profound and lovely moments produced by .. intoxication.

To share these experiences with y’all and make it all possible this summer - me and the ECMC2008 crew hauled over 8000 cans of class A pilsner: Dutch brew Bavaria.
You read correctly: EIGHT THOUSAND.

= 1 EURO

All these beers will be thoroughly chilled and presented to you for the ridiculously affordable price of … EUR 1.00 per beer.  If I remember correctly, this is an ultimate low price in the history of ECMC’s.

However, binge drinking has its side effects to be countered in the morning so we can fully recover to race!!!

We invited Belgian Masters of Coffee to take care of these caffeine needs.
Dux Espressobar on Wheels will serve beautiful espresso for just EUR 1.50.

As dutch folk we gotta keep up appearances.

To quote Buffalo Bill of Moving Targetzine: “Those Dutch people are really cheap”.

Bikepolo presented by FUCCIT

Please let us introduce you to the newest and hottest of bike messengers’ related organisations: the FUCCIT foundation of The Netherlands.

Fuccit has been invited to organise the Bikepolo tournament at the ECMC2008, the side event taking place on Friday 25^th of July.

The game of playing urban Bicycle Polo is of old origins but has since several years been revitalized and is growing in popularity. As such, anyone who likes playing the sport or who would like to try to sling the mallet: join the FUCCIT team on the courts at the ECMC event located on the TU/e campus EINDHOVEN.

 

Please drop them a mail so they know how many players to keep score of.

Pre-event in Paris - ONLINE now

Our friends and pedaleurs des charmes in Paris - aka Panam Experience - will host the official ECMC2008 pre-event in the weekend of 18/19/20 July. But you allready knew that. Ofcourse this courier event in the beautiful French metropolis has since long been jotted in your travel itineries and holiday plans.

Saturdaynight 26/07/2008:

For the main party we are proud to present to you another class of Holland’s' top-notch acts.

For starters Area51 is a special venue - not one with fuckedup bouncers or ridiculous booze-prices. But don't get us wrong: It ain't cheesy or cheap either. Especially for all you cyclosportive guys'n'girls we have contracted Big Entertainment. Saturday night Rollapaluza will stage the Roller-race finals and the bands Aux Raus and ZzZ will perform to a full max. What a coincidence: they are all duo's. So don't come alone.

 

Rollapaluza have revived the sport of roller-racing in the UK and are going continental (ehh Dutch)! Two cyclists battle it out on a pair of vintage rollers connected to a huge dial over a simulated 500m distance at speeds in excess of 50mph.
Rollapaluza events are well known for their atmosphere and the crowd always goes wild!

Aux Raus is the craziest Techno punk band from Amsterdam/Oss in a long while. Check out their music online - these guys won Best Dutch Album 2007.
Capturing the spirit of the alcoholic dance parties and the dirt of punk shows Aux Raus know how to make a party out of a funeral. Creating a maximum impact with minimal means they became known as the enfants terribles of dance music.

Great to see lots of messengers have - at this early stage - already registered online @ECMC2008.
Participants from all over the globe, a community that crosses all borders, in  the saddle.

 'Cos we as bike-messengers enslave ourselves to the core - all year round.

To make this championship an event up to standard we have taken messengers’ wishes and polls into thorough account. The race-location and race-design have since several months been well established. There will be no surprises there ;). Whats important too however, is that the ECMC2008 will be a special celebration NOT just for the muscular LEGS but also for the well trained stomachs and EARDRUMS...Treat yourself to the ECMC2008 in Eindhoven this summer: We pledge to build you a proper party! 

If you haven't done so allready: Register yourself & pay the contribution.

Don't forget: Ticket fee goes up as of april 1st 2008.
